It's Been A While

Wow! It's been a while since I've logged in here. I used to be very, very good about keeping up with this and posting to others' blogs. There was a point that I was just completely exhausted and over school (college), over all the late nights and no sleep, no time for my family, working and teaching all day....etc....I'm sure everyone's been through that or had at least a moment like that. Well mine lasted more than a moment!!! I'm just so TIRED! I can't wait until I get a job so I can quit medical transcription. I am so sick of being up late at night and early in the morning doing it. I just want one job and no college for a while!

Teaching is going GREAT! I love my school, love the students, love the teacher I'm with. Everything's great. Haven't found a job yet. I'm applying for summer school in Chesapeake and VA Beach.

New Placement

Well, I'm in fourth grade now. I was so sad to leave my other placement. I loved the kids, loved my cooperating teacher and the other grade level teachers, and the school itself! It was wonderful. The grade level got together and had a little going away for me during lunch. I got a lot of nice presents! The kids gave me a little party and all wrote me letters and glued them into the cards they made. Then my cooperating teacher took all of their pictures and pasted them on the individual cards they made me. The kids knew chocolate was my favorite food, and they got me chocolate as a going away present. It was soooo nice.

I really wanted to get a job there, but the vice principal said that people stay there until they die! I told her that I didn't want anyone to die, but maybe someone would retire soon.

My new placement is very, very different. Fourth grade, math, science, and social studies. We have an inclusion class in the morning. 22 students that are either LD, ADHD, ED or don't have IEPs, but should have them (so I'm told). There is a special education teacher in the class in the morning, a teacher assistant, and my cooperating teacher (and of course me). In the afternoon, it's just a basic fourth-grade class, math, science, and social studies. It's a very interesting placement, and I'm looking forward to getting the experience with the older children, although I still think I'll prefer the younger ones.

Better this Week

Oh my. I feel so much better now. I've had my antibiotics in me for a few days now and am feeling back to normal. I'm still tired and burned out, but I think that's because I am just doing so much, as everyone else is, too!!

Not much to report. I'm just exhausted. Still doing medical transcription, teaching, doing lesson plans, keeping up with our portfolio for student teaching and the portfolio for this class, and am sooooo tired. This is harder than I thought it would be. Can't wait until I don't have to do medical transcription anymore and can find a teaching job!!!!

Teaching is going great! I feel very comfortable in the classroom and with the students as well as my teacher. My supervisor observed me and said everything is going great. Got a wonderful evaluation for my midterm. I was very, very happy about that. Everything in the classroom is going great.

SICK

Oh my goodness. This week has been AWFUL!!! My whole family is sick, and everyone got to go to the doctor and get meds except for me! My voice is so shot I can barely talk, and I sound like a dying animal when I do talk. I am teaching all subjects, and it doesn't help my voice any. I missed one day of school this week, but I was afraid to miss anymore because I need to get my hours in. Then I worried about getting my cooperating teacher sick and the students sick. I was soooo sick last night. I wanted to get up and do homework and other things that I needed to get done, but I couldn't. I just laid there coughing and drifting in and out of consciousness.

Anyway, that is all I can really remember from this week. Teaching is going great. I have no problems there. Just my health this week. Let's hope I get better soon:)

HELP!!!!

OKAY. I will try to type this again!!!!! I am extremely frustrated. I click on the link in BB to go to post on other people's blogs, and it has a screen that allows you to leave a comment. It says I have to log in, so I try to log in at the bottom right of the page under my Goggle account, and it says "Required fields cannot be blank." So then I type in the comment box and then try to sign in and it says the same thing, but clears any comments I left from the box. So then I went to my blog address using the address directly, not the link, and signed into my account. I left that window open, thinking it would show me as signed in still, and in another window clicked on the link to post a comment to someone's blog. It said the same thing and apparently did not have me as being logged in!!! This is extremely frustrating! HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!

This week in student teaching!

Hi everyone!This week has gone great, too. I am teaching all subjects now, language arts, math, and content (science/social studies). Things are moving along great, and my teacher is so supportive. The principal came in and wanted to observe me Wednesday...No, I didn't ask him to do it yet! He just popped in. She sent him away and told him to come back in about a week or so. I was sooooo grateful for that one! I was teaching something called Step 2, which is part of their character education.

First Week

I have finished my first week of student teaching. It was wonderful! I was just trying to feel my way around by observing the first day to see what her classroom management was like and how she instructed. I jumped in, helping the kids here and there some; however, I didn't really start interacting a lot with them until the second day. By the third day I was teaching. She was out sick, which she said is very unusual for her, and there was a substitute in. She left instructions with the sub to let me teach if I wanted to, and I wanted to. It was wonderful. The kids were good. I am having a great experience so far!!!

Bad news....Missed the meeting I was supposed to go for our student teaching class. I didn't actually realize it was a class and I hadn't checked my e-mail in a while, so I didn't even know about the meeting. Anyway, my supervisor got me caught up, and things are back on track now.

I'm looking forward to hearing how everyone else's student teaching experiences were this week.
